Scrooby Cinema

About Scrooby cinema

Scrooby Community Cinema holds irregular seasons of film showings in Scrooby Village Hall. The screenings take place on Sunday evening at 8pm.

Since starting in March 2011 we have shown over 80 films with an average attendance of 17 people per show.

Scrooby Community Cinema is open to all, subject to film certification, as we are not a film club. Entrance is £4 per person, on the door; we aim to keep this charge as low as possible, hoping to make each event self supporting. The entrance fee goes towards the cost of the public film licence (currently £83.00 + VAT per showing) we are required to purchase. The fees are supplemented by our own licenced bar where a small selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks are available.

Films tend to be mainstream and English-language. The audience is asked for film suggestions at each screening. If you have a favourite film, or one you think would be popular, you can suggest a film.

The projection and sound equipment was donated by the Parish Council and Village Show. We have a Blu-ray projector and Dolby 5.1 Surround Sound system.
