Scrooby Show 2009 Organising Committee

Scrooby Garden Club have passed responsibility for Scrooby Village Show to a seperate committee, and made available £250 of seed funding to the new committee. It is to hoped that the close relationship between the Gardening Club and the Village Show continues.

Ann Watkins and Maureen Westhead have stepped-down from the committee. Chris Spence will remain on the committee, with the intention of keeping the vegetable, fruit and flower competition up to the high standard achieved in previous years. Graham Robbins will become secretary.

The first committee meeting will be held on Thursday 22 January 2009. Anyone is welcome to join the committee.

The 2009 Village Show will be held on Saturday 5 September 2009 on the Croft and in the Village Hall.

OFFICIAL SHOW RULES

All exhibits in vegetable and flower classes will be judged to National Vegetable Society rules.
  • 1. The decision of the judges shall be final
  • 2. Any complaint or protest must be made in writing to the Secretary before 3.30p.m. together with £1 deposit returnable if the complaint is sustained.
  • 3. Entries will be accepted as stated on the entry form. Entrants may not go into the tents before registering all entries.
  • 4. All exhibits to be staged by 11a.m. on the morning of the show.
  • 5. All exhibits to be cleaned before entry
  • 6. The Committee shall not be responsible for loss or damage to any exhibit.
  • 7. The entry fee must be paid before entries can be accepted
  • 8. Points to be awarded for best in show are as follows: 1st. prize 5 points, 2nd. Prize 3 points, 3rd. prize 1 point
  • 9. Cash prizes will be paid in all classes where a prize ticket is awarded
  • 10. The Judges are empowered to withhold prizes where there is insufficient merit
  • 11. All exhibits not for sale must be so marked. No exhibits to be removed before the presentations
  • 12. All the exhibits must be the exhibitor’s own produce or have been in his/her possession for at least 8 weeks prior to the show with the exception of floral art displays
  • 13. All trophies presented at the show will be in the safekeeping of the holder and must be returned on 1st. August next to the Secretary
