WW2 Evacuees in Scrooby School

I have been extracting evacuees from school admission registers for the whole county (where they survive) and housed at Notts. County Archives, Wilford St, Nottingham. I wondered if you would be interested in the Scrooby children concerned.

The following entries are from the Scrooby Pilgrim Fathers� School Log Book which is held at the Notts Archives, Wilford St, Nottingham. What I have done whilst doing the research on evacuees is to work side by side with the Log Books and Admissions Registers� assuming they have survived or at the Archives. What I have extracted from the Log Books are any details of travelling teachers and also notes on individual children if there is a mention. Obviously there are certain Copyright requests so I would not wish money to be made from the entries.

18.9.193919 children were admitted, 17 being evacuees from Leeds, with Miss H.M. Henley, also an evacuated teacher from Leeds.
28.9.19392 evacuees returned to Leeds Kathleen & Dorothy Ellis.
25.10.1939Mr Heap (Inspector from Leeds) called to see the Leeds evacuees.
1.11.1939Jean Thomson, has returned to Leeds, and Ursula Forsyth to Hull.
13.12.1939Mr Ray, HMI called and took particulars of the evacuees.
15.12.19395 evacuees have left today to return to Chapeltown. On Sunday I received a letter from Leeds E.A.releasing Miss Henley during the Christmas Holidays, as so few children will be left in Scrooby.
19.1.1940Miss H.M. Henley, returned to Leeds.
12.2.1940Received information today to say the Connie Robertshaw, an evacuee could take her art examination in school rather than travel to Mansfield.
1.4.1940Connie & Howard Robertshaw returned to Leeds. Rosemary Uttley from Sheffield has not been in school since Xmas.
10.6.194012 evacuees admitted from Great Yarmouth with Mr Hindes in charge.
8.7.194011 more evacuees admitted. Tables and chairs have been borrowed from the Church Room.
17.7.1940Received notification that the Church Room could be used from today.
26.8.1940Mr Hindes left today to join RAF. Mr. Harrison has taken over his duties here. Geoffrey Calver has left to Great Yarmouth.
5.9.1940Margaret Fields, an evacuee from Leeds has been medically examined for evacuation overseas.
8.10.1940Raymond Bullock, an evacuee from Great Yarmouth was bitten by a horse. Check was swollen and inflamed � sent to clinic.
2.10.19402 children from London admitted. Angela Woodley and Charles Carpenter.
17.12.194012 evacuees from Birmingham admitted.
6.1.19412 evacuees from Birmingham have returned home. I evacuee from Great Yarmouth has joined his brother at Retford.
21.1.1941Alert sounded at 3.20pm. Children were sent home.
28.1.1941Shirley & Meryl Whitcombe, evacuees from Birmingham sent home with measles.
11.2.1941John Nickerson, an evacuee from great Yarmouth, suspected measles.
12.2.1941Roger Tonks has measles; his brother Paul Tonks has been excluded because unsure whether he has had them or not.
17.2.1941Gladys Nickerson has developed Chicken Pox; her sister Ida Nickerson has been excluded.
21.4.1941Dennis Bryanton an evacuee from Great Yarmouth has been re-admitted because of bombing of the coastal area.
8.5.19415 evacuees, Geoffrey Brian Cooke, Ralph Cockerill, Ernest Clarke,
Ronald Ramsey Roberts and Raymond Benjamin Bullock, have absented themselves from school this morning. I understand they have gone to view the German Bomber that was shot down at Scrooby Top last night.
19.6.1941Ernest Clarke has left the village.
20.6.1941Charles Carpenter has returned to London.
31.7.1941Ida & Gladys Nickerson have left to join their mother at Hemsley.
1.9.1941Only 5 evacuees on roll.
8.9.1941Sheila Miller, an unofficial evacuee from Hull admitted.
3.10.1941The Church Room is no longer required. Mr. Harrison finished his service with us.
25.11.1941Garth & Brenda Maw have been isolated. Scabies suspected.
10.12.1941Garth & Brenda Maw returned back to school.
17.12.1941Angela Woodley had mild attack of rabies confirmed by clinic.
5.1.1942Sheila Miller returned to Hull.
1.6.1942Ronald Chillingworth returned to Great Yarmouth as he is now 14.
8.6.1942Norman & Stanley Rees the last of our evacuees have returned to Great Yarmouth.
