January 2012 Screening
January 2012
This month's screenings are DESPICABLE ME and SENNA.
Come along before the screening time and visit the sweet shop and bar; doors open half an hour beforehand. Meet up with the other cinema-goers, and let us know which films you have liked and would like to see.
We are keen to make the showings as sociable as we can. You are welcome to stay for a drink and a natter after the showings.
Entry on the door costs £4, or an annual season ticket costs £40; that's two showings free.
Afternoon Screening
DESPICABLE ME (U)
Doors open 1:30pm. Showing starts 2pm. Running Time 95m. £4 on the door. Released 2010.
Will Evil Genius Gru take over the world ... or go to his daughters' ballet performance?
Quote:
Gru: Mom, someday, I'm going to go to the moon.
Gru's Mom: I'm afraid you're too late, son. NASA
isn't sending the monkeys anymore.
Directed by Pierre Coffin and Chris Renaud. Starring Steve Carell, Jason Segel, Russell Brand.
"The film is constantly laugh-out-loud funny, and the voice cast (which also includes Julie Andrews as Gru's disapproving mother) is exemplary." - Terry Staunton, Radio Times.
Evening Screening
SENNA (PG)
Doors open 7:30pm. Showing starts 8pm. Running Time 104m. £4 on the door. Released 2010.
How did Ayrton Senna achieve legendary renown before his death on the Formula One track?
Spanning his years as a Formula One racing driver from 1984 to his untimely death a decade later, Senna explores the life and work of the triple world champion, his physical and spiritual achievements on the track, his quest for perfection and the mythical status he has since attained.
A documentary directed by Asif Kapadia.
"Complete ignorance of, or even indifference to, the sport won't disqualify you from being utterly gripped, moved or charmed by Asif Kapadia's film about legendary Brazilian F1 champion Ayrton Senna. Made with charm and conviction enough to rival its subject, Senna is a racing doc that's by no means just for racing fans." - Sophie Ivan, Film4
See you on the 15th
