Scrooby Community Cinema's second month of screenings took place in April. The afternoon film LEGEND OF THE GUARDIAN: THE OWLS OF GA'HOOLE was well liked, although poorly attended; possibly because of the unseasonally sunny weather, and maybe also due to the Easter holidays.
The evening film A GOOD YEAR was well attended and enjoyed.
Financially, the afternoon screening bombed, but there was a surplus from the March showings, so we kept our head above water.
- 2 paying children attended the afternoon showing of The Legend of the Guardian, £6.00 was taken on the door.
- 23 paying people attended the evening showing of A Good Year, £69.00 was taken on the door.
- The refreshments shop took £14.00.
The figures above are takings, from which the cost of film licences and sweet and drink purchases need to be deducted. The distributor of the films (Filmbank) charged £79.00 for each film. So, from £89.00 income, and £88.96 retained from the March screenings, we have £19.96 in hand. We have asked if Filmbank would consider lowering their licence fee for the poorly attended afternoon showing, but have not yet had a response.
Here are the details of April's screenings. Please come along on the 17th. Both films are drawn from audience suggestions at the March screenings, and both look really good.
We have dropped the price to £3 per ticket. This means we need 26 paying entrants to pay for the film licence. And this is where you can help. Please try and tell friends about the screenings. Send them the details. Bring them along.
Don't forget that we also have the King's Speech screening on 15 May.
