Clerk: Sheila Firth

3. Minutes of the Last Meeting
Minutes of the last meeting were agreed, proposed by Heidi Robbins, seconded by Matt Pollard.
4. Matters Arising
Ed Marshall to contact NALC and to consult the new planning regulations
Mark Firth has been appointed as snow warden for Scrooby, he has five bags of salt, a high visibility jacket and a snow shovel at the Old Vicarage.
Ed Marshall to try and place a new advert in the Star extolling the Village Hall as a venue for hire. It was decided that the proposed New Year Party at the Village Hall would not be going ahead.
Caravan site: Matt Pollard spoke to the owner. He says the vans in question are not occupied full time, the chalets on there belong to him and he uses them. He says he is operating within guidelines and would not do otherwise. Barry Bowles asked if it was worth asking the Planning Department to do a spot visit? Dennis Marshall asked what the remit was of the site owner, and Barry Bowles said he would speak to the Planning Department to find out, and take it from there. The owner has three or four vans of his own, but there are more than that on the site that appear to be in use all the time.
5. Correspondence
A letter was received from The Village Notice Board Company with information about new Coated Aluminium notice boards, Ed Marshall will speak to Sheila Place about obtaining a contribution towards a new notice board for outside the Village Hall. He will also speak to Michael tag, who deals with village boards and signs in conservation areas.
6. District Councillor's Report
Barry Bowles confirmed there were no planned closures of any fire stations or police stations in Bassetlaw. One of the Retford fire crews will be moving to Worksop, but we will still have one full time crew and one retained crew. In his brief overview of the new structuring of the fire service locally, he confirmed we will still have the same numbers of fire crew.
7. Finance Report
Dennis Marshall confirmed we are still within budget for the Village Hall, although he has still not received the report from the accountants. Two cheques were signed off.
8. Police Report
Nothing to report, although we have not heard from the PCO.
9. Planning & Village Plan
Nothing to report. Ed Marshall to look at new planning regulations.
10. Play Area
Matt Pollard has repaired the ladder rung and playhouse climbing frame. James Arrowsmith has repaired the netting. A representative from Nottinghamshire County Council is coming out on Friday this week to view the area round the proposed tree sculpture and play area fence with regard to the recent grant application.
11. Village Hall
We have not yet received the invoice from the plumber, this will be checked with James Arrowsmith.
12. Village Environment
In regard to the Quarry restoration, the new grass is growing well and the area is looking much better. Ed Marshall will speak to Mr Scoley before the next meeting in regard to future plans.
Mark Firth will forward the letter from the Lions about the available trees again and we will make a village plan about where to place them. The hedge put in two years ago in Mill Lane has partly failed, we need a new incentive to prevent fly tipping. Ed Marshall will make enquiries with regard to repairs to the wire fence, and with regard to closing of Mill Lane.
13. Neighbourhood Watch Scheme
Matt Pollard set up the new Neighbourhood Watch link on the computer. In September there were four crimes reported, as against 96 in Harworth. Matt suggests that everyone gets registered in the link so we can report any incidents that happen.
14. Pilgrim Fathers Society
Barry Bowles informed PC that, provided the Society gets a grant from the County Council, they can go ahead with the visitor centre and they hope to open in the Spring of 2102. However, the Church has said that they would wish to see the full propositions for the visitor centre, including materials proposed for use in the church, colour schemes etc., before they would be willing give final approval. However, the grant money would be required before there were funds to be able to make such a presentation, so at the moment the Society seems to be in a Catch 22 situation.
15. Any Other Business
Heidi has had two complaints re the grass cutting and hedge cutting in the village:
1. North Notts Landscapes cut the grass and eave the cuttings everywhere, they also cut the grass too short.
2. A resident at the bottom of Dog Lane said that North Notts Landscapes cut the grass and hedges down there and left the cuttings and sticks all over the place. Some damage was caused to children's bikes because of it. We need to ask North Notts Landscapes that they tidy up after strimming , and to check locations for cutting before the next cutting season starts.
Meeting closed at 8.45pm
Next meeting Monday 12 December 2011 7.30pm Scrooby Village Hall.
